In honor of Lou Harrison’s 70th birthday, artist Mark Bulwinkle created this limited edition poster for his longtime friend. Mark hand screened each one of the 100 copies on archival paper in 1987 in his famous Manila Street home studio in Oakland, while his friend Eva Soltes stood on top of his table catching each wet poster and pinning it to an overhead clothes line. Mark Bulwinkle is renowned for his intricate flame-cut art that transfers the craft of paper stenciling to steel and metal using a torch, although he began his career as a printmaker. In 2017, he designed and built the Harrison House Centennial Gate made from repurposed Bay Bridge steel.
